PURPOSE: A system for controlling hierarchical memory access of a video communication terminal is provided to maximize internal memory utilization efficiency even if images in various sizes are transmitted. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling hierarchical memory access of a video communication terminal includes an external interface bus(20a), hierarchical memories(31,32,33), an LCD controller(40), and an access selector(51,52,53). The external interface bus interfaces video data to be transmitted and received with a system external bus and a system internal bus. The hierarchical memories have different capacities for adaptively dividing the video data into data pieces and respectively storing the data pieces. The LCD controller reads the data stored in the hierarchical memories to display it. The access selector selects a write path of the video data with respect to the memories and a read access path of the LCD controller.
