PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing exo- tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene(THDC) on an industrial scale at a low cost while remarkably shortening the reaction time, facilitating the operations such as the metering and charging of a catalyst and suppressing the formation of by- products in the isomerization of endo-THDC to produce the corresponding exo isomer. SOLUTION: Endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene is isomerized by using an oily catalyst produced by reacting an anhydrous aluminum halide with a hydrogen halide in the presence of a solvent. |
