MAGNETO-OPTICAL CRYSTAL PLATE WITH POLARIZING ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a crystal plate having a magneto-optical effect and having a two-dimensional periodical structure with the period of about the wavelength of light fabricated on its surface. SOLUTION: The crystal plate has an almost two-dimensionally periodical structural body having a laminated structure produced by almost periodically and successively depositing two or more kinds of sheet substances each having an almost one-dimensionally and periodically arranged recesses and projections on a crystal plate having a magneto-optical effect. For example, the structural body consists of a material 1 and a material 2 having different refractive indices. Therefore, a structure having a two-dimensionally periodical structure is directly formed on the crystal plate having the magneto-optical effect. Since the two-dimensionally periodical structure acts as a polarizing element, the element as the combination of the polarizing element and the magneto-optical effect of the crystal plate can be easily obtained.
