PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel for a wire offering construction permitting transportation in a compact form. SOLUTION: The reel comprises plate frame assemblies 10A, 10B located at both sides thereof and a plurality of struts 12 arranged between the plate frame assemblies 10A, 10B at equal intervals in a circumferential direction, on which a long material is wound. Each of the struts 12 consists of a first rod member 14 pivotally mounted on the plate frame assemblies 10A, 10B and a second rod member 16. Th rod members 14, 16 are pivotally mounted thereon via a pin 24 and the frame assemblies can be folded by bending the struts 12. The first rod member 14 has a protruded portion 14-1 and the protruded portion 14-1 engages with the opposite face of the second rod member 16 to prevent the strut 12 from being bent inside of its linear position. The wire is wound in a coiled form on the struts 12 being in the linear position.
