PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more flexible ruby function in comparison with a conventional method for users, in a ruby display determining method to produce the ruby notes on electronic documents. SOLUTION: This ruby display determining method includes a receiving step to receive a user input from a first process and to select it as a base part text for which a ruby note display is produced, a step to supply the text data to a second process, and to bring the display on a computer for a ruby dialogue window comprising a display mask containing plural places separately formed by a pair of a first place displaying the base part text and a second place to display and edit the corresponding ruby into a movable condition, in the second process, and a step to bring the display and edition of the ruby into a movable condition correspondingly to the conditions when an automatic ruby display determining mode is set in an active state and when it is set in an inactive condition, in the second process.
