PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure characteristics of a medium which minimize a leaked magnetic field which obstructs information reproducing and acts on the medium through a magnetic circuit generated between an actuator part and a magnetic head part. SOLUTION: When a magneto-optical medium of which the information recording magnetic domain recorded in a recording layer is transferred to a reproducing layer by an optical disk drive provided with the magnetic head is used, a reproducing method which minimizes the magnetic field applied to the medium through the magnetic circuit between the actuator and the magnetic head is adopted to minimize the degradation in characteristics of the medium. That is, the distance between the medium and the magnetic head is made longer at the time of signal reproducing in comparison with information recording to reduce the degree of convergence of the magnetic flux, and thus the influence of the magnetic field upon the medium is minimized.
