PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for controlling a storage device capable of properly distributing a cash memory when allocating the cash memory for each storage device without obstructing the allocation of the cash memory to the other storage devices. SOLUTION: When the amount of write-after-data exceeds a threshold, an allocation limit is set for each disk device 25. When an instruction to write data is given from a CPU 20 requesting the amount of the write after data exceeding the allocated limit, the instruction is made to wait until the write- after-data becomes less than the limit, thereby the amount of allocation to a disk device is not excessively increased to excessively reduce the amount of allocation to the other disk device and, accordingly, a proper distribution can be performed without obstructing the allocation of the cash memory to the other disk device.
