PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the abnormality of a current-carrying route for an inductive load in an inductive load drive device for applying a high tension charged in a capacitor to the inductive load through a semiconductor switching element. SOLUTION: Since a pull-up resistance R1 is disconnected (namely, the connection thereof with a battery 2 through the pull-up resistance R1 or a transistor T3 is disconnected) by turning off the transistor T3 when the short-circuit of a power supply (battery voltage VB) at a common terminal 43 and ground side terminals 43a to 43d is detected, it can be suppressed that a voltage at the common terminal 43 rises above a threshold VthB or higher even if the effect of the leak resistance of a transistor TRk is increased due to an increase in an ambient temperature. Thus the short-circuit of the power supply can be prevented from being mis-detected, and the short-circuit of the power supply and the short-circuit to the ground can be accurately detected.
