PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television system provided with a device suppressing an impulse noise affecting the image quality. SOLUTION: The television system includes a source of an intermediate frequency(IF) signal comprising at least an IF picture carrier amplitude modulated with video information, a video detector for detecting the video information, and processing circuitry for providing an output video signal in response to the video information detected by the video detector. The processing circuitry comprises at least a noise detecting means for generating an output control signal responsive to the video information detected by the video detector, the output control signal being indicative of whether or not an appreciable amount of detected impulse noise accompanies the detected video information, a delay means for generating a delayed response to the detected video information, and an output means for responding to the current value of the delayed response to the detected video information when the output control signal indicates there is not an appreciable amount of detected impulse noise accompanying the detected video information, and for substituting the fixed value of the video signal for the current value of the delayed response when the output control signal indicates there is an appreciable amount of detected noise impulse accompanying the detected video information.
