PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a time from stopping an vehicle up to automatically stopping an engine depending on present travel conditions. SOLUTION: The engine stop/start control device 1 for the vehicle, allowing fuel consumption to be saved by stopping the revolution of the engine if predetermined stop conditions are established during idling operation and restarting the engine if predetermined start conditions are established, comprises an operation mode change, over switch 8 in use for selecting a manual mode where a controlled delay time from establishing the stop conditions up to stopping engine idling is adjustable and a setter 9 in use for adjusting the controlled delay time.
