PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a process to modify hierarchical structure information of a dimension before or after a storing process when storing multi-dimensional data containing members not registered in the hierarchical structure information. SOLUTION: A dimension is formed by groups of members having a hierarchical structure. Data to be identified according to combination of members of plural dimensions is stored and inquiry relating to the data is responded. When the hierarchical structure information of the members indicated by a caller is not registered in the hierarchical structure information wherein the hierarchical information of the members of the dimension is registered, hierarchical rules indicating rules for generating the hierarchical information of the indicated members are acquired. The hierarchical rules and the indicated members are input and the generation of the hierarchical information is indicated. After receiving the generating indication of the hierarchical information of the indicated members, generating the hierarchical information of the indicated members according to the hierarchical rules and registering it to the hierarchical structure information, the generated hierarchical information is returned and the returned hierarchical information is further returned to the caller.
