PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a toner image from being degraded in quality by a discharge product stuck to an electrifying member in an image forming apparatus where an image carrier is electrified by an electrifier having the electrifying member and its electrified surface is exposed to light to form an electrostatic latent image and the electrostatic latent image is made visible into a toner image and the toner image is transferred to a transfer material. SOLUTION: A product removing roll 25 having a polar adsorbent is brought into contact with an electrifying member 21 to remove the discharge product stuck to the peripheral surface of the electrifying member 21.
