PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of an ignition coil in an internal combustion engine in which the ignition coil is disposed in a cylinder part formed in a cam cover. SOLUTION: In a conventional internal combustion engine in which the ignition coil 50 is disposed in the cylinder part 41 formed in the cam cover 40, a magnetic fluxΦ0 flows into the cam cover 40 by energization to a primary coil 52, and an eddy current by the magnetic fluxΦ0 flows inside the cam cover 40 to generate a magnetic flux in such a direction as to offset the magnetic fluxΦ0 , which causes deterioration of the ignition coil 50 for a reduced part of the magnetic flux by the eddy current. Therefore, the cam cover 40 is formed of insulation material, thereby flow of the eddy current into the cam cover 40 is prevented.
