PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell to exert a high perfor mance with a small amount of platinum. SOLUTION: In this electrode catalyst, particles containing platinum and gold are carried on a conductive carbon material in order to reduce the amount of platinum not participating in the reaction, and wherein the inside of the particles is rich in gold and the external surface is rich in platinum. This catalyst is manufactured by preparing colloids by reducing a mixed solution of platinum complex and gold complex, and by making these colloids be carried on the conductive carbon material. |
