PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing solar battery in which a method by which the maintenance of devices be performed inexpensively as compared with vacuum evaporation can be adopted when forming electrodes. SOLUTION: A plurality of grooves 2 are formed in nearly parallel with each other on the first main surface 24 of a single-crystal semiconductor substrate 24 and output taking-out metallic electrodes 6 are provided on the internal side faces of the grooves 2 in the widthwise direction by using the side faces as electrode forming areas. The electrodes 6 are formed by forming metal- containing base layers 49 in the electrode forming areas and metallic layers 50 constituting the main bodies of the electrodes 6 and containing at least one of an electroless plated layer, an electroplated layer, and a hot-dipped layer on the base layers 49.
