MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium and a method for manufacturing the medium having excellent electromagnetic transduction characteristics such as output characteristics and also having traveling reliability. SOLUTION: The medium has a magnetic layer and contains abrasive particles dispersed only in the surface area of the magnetic layer. The magnetic recording medium is manufactured by applying a coating material containing abrasive particles on the surface of the magnetic layer so as to disperse the abrasive particles only in the surface region of the magnetic layer.
