The compactor for waste has a horizontal compacting a discharge press with a thin high strength steel sheet press plate which is used with a rail transportable container. It has a cylindrical casing (10) resting on a welded frame (30) and the press plate (20) is actuated by a double acting hydraulic cylinder operating along the casing. The casing has a loading hatch (40) and a rear door (11) for horizontal discharge.
