PURPOSE: A method of inhibiting the growth of microorganism using sound is provided, thereby metabolism and protein expression of microorganism can be inhibited, so that the storage time of foods can be elongated. CONSTITUTION: The method of inhibiting the growth of microorganism using sound comprises subjecting microorganisms to sound or music containing peak frequency of 63 to 8,000 Hz, preferably 500 to 4,000 Hz, wherein the microorganism is selected from yeasts, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Pichia pastoris, Escherichia coli, lactic acid bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus, and Trichoderma; and the yeast is Saccharomyces cerevisiae SEY2102 or Pichia pastoris GS115 and Escherichia coli is XL1-Blue.
