The power cylinder, comprising a sliding piston (7) dividing the inner cavity of the cylinder (2) into two chambers (8, 9) and a piston rod (12) sliding in a bearing (5) in one end wall (3), has the piston and rod capable of lengthwise motion and rotation. The rotation is produced by a hydraulic motor (20) that can be mounted on the end of the cylinder with its stator (24) fixed to it and its rotor (31) driving the piston rod directly or indirectly, e.g. via a splined shaft (71) inside the rod, or inside the piston with its stator formed by the piston and its rotor connected to the piston rod.
