PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the convenience of printing through a network while assuring security. SOLUTION: A system is constructed in which clients, a server such as a print portal, and printers are connected to a network. The client transmits a print request to the print portal to specify both the contents to be printed and the printer 70 to which the contents should be output. The print portal in turn serves as an intermediary to cause the designated printer to print the designated contents. The security system 60 normally rejects the passage of data from the print portal, but if a direct communication between the printer 70 and the client MP can be made using weak electric waves or the like, the system allows the passage of the print request from the client MP. Thus, the convenience of printing through the network can be enhanced while assuring security.
