<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optically active compound which can optically be isomerized and is useful as a photoreaction type chiral agent that can change the spiral structure (or the twisting force or the twisting angle) of a liquid crystal by the irradiation of light, when added to a liquid crystalline compound, to obtain the photoreaction type chiral agent comprising the optically active compound, to obtain a liquid crystal composition, to provide a liquid color filter, an optical film and a recording medium each of which contains the optically active compound, to provide a method for changing the liquid crystal of the liquid crystal composition containing the optically active compound, and to provide a method for fixing the spiral structure. SOLUTION: The optically active compound represented by formula (1) [R<a> and R<b> are each independently H, an alkyl, an aryl, a heterocyclic group, an alkenyl or an alkynyl; R<c> and R<d> are each independently H, an alkyl or an alkoxycarbonyl; L is a divalent group; its binaphthyl portion has (R) or (S) axial asymmetry].</p> |
