PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension insulator capable of improving RIV characteristics several times compared with the conventional suspension insulator. SOLUTION: This suspension insulator 1 is composed of an insulator body 4 having a shade 2 and a head 3 having a cylindrical shape with bottom protruded in the central upper part of the shade 2, a cap fitting 6 installed in the outer circumference of the head 3 through cement 5, and a pin fitting 8 installed on the inside of the head 3 through cement 7. In the suspension insulator 1, a recess 11 is installed in the vicinity of the end part 7a of the cement 7 on the pin fitting 8 side and yet in the whole inner circumference of the head 3 of the body 4, and the cement 7 is installed so that the end part 7a of the cement 7 is extended to at least a bottom 11b of the recess 11.
