PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavation machine and an advancing method for enabling accurate execution along a schedule even in the case of a sharp curve without amending the ground and even if in natural ground in which a reactive force can not be used. SOLUTION: The excavating machine comprises at least two shell bodies 12, that are arranged in series in an advancing direction, and an excavation means 15 for excavating the natural ground at the front being provided at the shell bodies 12 in the advancing direction. An articulated jack 24 is arranged at a specific interval along the circumferential direction of the shell body 12, between adjacent shell bodies 12 in the advancing direction. One end of the creased jack 24 is connected to one of the adjacent shell bodies 12, and at the same time, a ram 25 is set to a free end. A pressure-receiving wall 30 that can come into contact with the ram 25 is provide at the adjacent other shell body 12, the ram 25 that is located in the curve and the pressure-receiving wall 30 are separated each other, and propulsive force is transmitted only by the articulated jack 24 that is located outside. |
