PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ending machine for joining a preceding yarn at its rear end tangled with the front end of a following yarn while making the yarn travel at a predetermined tension and a carbon fiber producing method for improving operativeness in a firing process by continuously supplying the yarn to the firing process to achieve lower cost. SOLUTION: The ending machine 10 for connecting the preceding yarn F at its rear end to the front end of the following yarn f is arranged between a yarn supply part 20 and a yarn travel device 30 for making the yarn F travel. The ending machine 10 comprises a pair of yarn clamping devices 11, 12 for clamping a rear end portion of the preceding yarn F and a front end portion of the following yarn f in a paralleled form, a fluid tangling device 13 arranged between the clamping devices 11, 12 and a yarn tension holding mechanism 15 arranged on a yarn travel line between each of the yarn clamping devices 11, 12 and the yarn travel device 30.
