PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that corrects saturation of a dynamic range of a cathode amplifier in interlocking with a video timing displayed on a cathode ray tube at application of power. SOLUTION: An ACL control line 6 controlling a contrast level by feeding back a voltage level in response to the luminance of the screen of the cathode ray tube 3 from a flyback transformer 4 to a video signal processing circuit 1 is also connected to an A/D port 8a of a control circuit 8, the control circuit 8 controls an OSD circuit included in the video signal processing circuit 1 to output an image signal with a high luminance tone to the cathode ray tube 3 at application of power when a voltage level in response to the screen luminance received by the A/D port 8a indicates a prescribed voltage level. When the control circuit 8 detects a timing indicating a voltage level in response to the screen luminance, the control circuit 8 switches the OSD circuit to output an input video signal to the cathode ray tube 3.
