PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display unit, capable of preventing the breakdown of a driving means due to temperature rise at a low cost without providing a temperature detecting means, and to provide its driving method. SOLUTION: This display unit is provided with a data driving means 6 for selecting lighting pixels and non-lighting pixels in a display part, in which a plurality of pixels which are arranged in a matrix shape are included; a power consumption estimating part 4 for estimating an estimation value, corresponding to an amount of power consumption of the driving means 6 from an image signal and the order of the data selection of the data driving means 6 and a data write order control means 2 for controlling the order in which the driving means 6 writes data in pixels, according to the power consumption estimation value. The driving means 6 selects lighting pixels and non-lighting pixels in the writing order of data, which is controlled by the data write order control means 2.
