PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin substrate for a liquid crystal display element, having >=200 deg.C glass transition temperature and excellent in heat resistance, transparency, solvent resistance, alignment agent resistance and liquid crystal resistance. SOLUTION: The resin substrate for the liquid crystal display element is characterized in that a plastic sheet is used, containing a polyester resin at least having >=200 deg.C glass transition temperature and a molecular weight of 8,000-200,000 and shown by formula (1) wherein each R1 , R2 , R3 and R4 denote hydrogen, 1-7C alkyl, aralkyl or alkoxy group and may be the same to each other or different from each other.
