SOLUTION: An image read by a scanner 17 is displayed in an image display field 22 and a user specifies an extraction range on the display image P with a selection frame 23, indicates a 'put in transfer BOX' button 24, and instructs transfer to the server 3 with a 'transfer image' button 26, so that image data of the extracted part are transferred to the server 3.
