PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize map information in a process for reading text data. SOLUTION: Data identifying a place are extracted from the text data displayed on a screen. Positional information is retrieved according to the extracted data. The map information is generated according to the retrieved positional information. The generated map information is displayed on the same screen as the text data are displayed. Part of the region of the screen for displaying the text data is secured for displaying the map information, and the size and the position of the part of the region are varied according to an operational input.
