The method for introducing a plant (6) into a reception support (15) consists of holding the plant and the support. The plant and support are then automatically displaced to assure the automatic introduction of the lower end of the plant into the support. The support is in the shape of a floral foam block. The installation comprises plant receptacles (2), a system (12) for cutting the plant stalks (7) to length and a pressing system (16) for holding the plants on their receptacle. There are guide forks (22,23) for the plant feet and means (18,20,24,26,27) for introducing the plant feet into the foam blocks.
