A hinge for switching between the close positions and the opening positions of two articles through engagement of a first hinge member provided on one article non-rotatably and non-movably in the axial direction and a second hinge member provided on the other article rotatably and movably in the axial direction, wherein a stop mechanism comprises a plurality of engaging members provided between both hinge members while spaced apart in the circumferential direction, means for urging the engaging member against the first hinge member, a guide part provided on the first hinge member and linking the engaging member movably only in the radial direction, and a stop part provided on the second hinge member and rising toward the first hinge member to vary the height along the radial direction. The engaging member is stopped by a high part at the stop part to sustain both hinge members in the close position and a moving means moves the plurality of engaging members from the high side to low side of the stop part in response to movement of an externally operating member from a first position to a second position and then the first hinge member is turned to the open position by the rotary force of the urging means.
