The invention relates to a duvet cover comprising respective lower (1) and upper (2) rectangular textile panels which are interconnected by means of the edges thereof, thereby forming a container for the cover. One side of said duvet cover is provided with a first opening (3) which is used to insert the duvet. The inventive cover is characterised in that, at the first opening (3), each of the panels (1, 2) extends into a fabric panel (4a, 4b) forming an overlay (4) that projects from the cover such that said overlay (4) can be placed under the mattress. Moreover, said cover is characterised in that a second opening (5), which is fitted with a closing means (6) and which is perpendicular to the first opening (3), is disposed along the entire length of one (2, 4b) of the panels of the cover and the corresponding overlay (4). In this way, the cover can be opened completely.
