An actuation device is provided which includes a support frame (12), a linkage mechanism (16), a user interface component, an actuator, and a braking device (20, 26). The braking device (20, 26) has a braking device body (34, 58) and a braking component (36, 60) secured to the braking device body (34, 58). The braking component (36, 60) is moveable relative to the braking device body (34, 58). Movement of the braking component (36, 60) is controllable so as to vary a resistance to be overcome to move the braking component (36, 60) relative to the braking device body (34, 58). The braking device (20, 26) is connected between two components of the frame and the linkage mechanism (16) such that an increase of the resistance brakes the movement of the linkage mechanism (16) imparted by the actuation device. |
