The invention relates to a vertical conveyor in the form of a C-shaped circulating conveyor (1) for vertical conveyance of unit load item from and to a lower floor (3) to and from an upper floor (2) on substantially horizontal, vertically moving spaced bearing platforms (6). In the head part of the upper floor (2), said conveyor has a first deflection roller (11) for a first circulating drive element (4) for horizontal arrangement of the bearing platform (6) placed laterally in the back and a second deflection roller (12) for a second circulating drive element (5) placed laterally in the front and located at the same height. According to the invention, a third deflection roller (13) for the first circulating drive element (4) is mounted upstream in the front in the upper floor of the first deflection roller (11), said third deflection roller being placed higher than the second deflection roller (12) and enabling contactless guidance of the first circulating drive element (4) relative to the second circulating drive element (5) around the second deflection roller (12) during vertical conveyance.
