A process for the polymerisation of cyclic ethers comprises contacting oxiranes, oxetanes, tetrahydrofurans, oxepanes, 1,3-dioxalanes and/or 1,3,5-trioxanes with a cpd. of formula (I) and an accelerator cpd. of formula R2-C(=O)O-CH=CHR1 (ii), (R3)2P(=O)OH (iii), (R-3O)3P (IV), (R3)2P-X (V) or (VI).
