<p>The present invention is generally directed to handling the raw syngas scrubbing wastewaters, or black water, from a quench gasification reactor. More particularly, the present invention describes recirculation of the black water in a recirculation loop from which at least a portion of the moderator used in the gasifier may be taken. The use of a recirculation loop for the black water permits the operation of the gasifier in situations such as when a source of high pressure steam is inadequate. The present invention also permits the service and maintenance of the black water treatment system while permitting the continued operation of the gasifier.</p> |
