The mast assembly 1 is traversible in a recess 2 in the truck chassis and is provided with lugs 3 which are adapted to engage in brackets 4 secured to the walls of the recess for tying together the front and rear portions of the chassis when the mast assembly is positioned with the forks projecting beyond the side of the chassis. A beam 5 may be secured to the base of the mast assembly and provided with rollers 6 arranged to engage with guides 7 on the walls of the recess. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, a bracket 12 on the mast supports a roller 11 which engages an intermediate guide 10 having a roller 14 which engages a flange 16 secured to wall of the recess, whereby the mast assembly and guides 10 act as a tie between the front and rear chassis portions. The guides 10 permit the mast assembly to be projected beyond the side of the truck. |
