Reactive azo dyes of general formula T-A-N = N-E-T in which A is a radical of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series, E is a hydroxynaphthalene radical connected to the azo group in o-position to the hydroxyl group and having 1 or 2 sulphonic acid groups, one T stands for a group of formula <FORM:1104915/C4-C5/1> and the other for a group of formula <FORM:1104915/C4-C5/2> in which R is a benzene radical having at least one SO3H group, each T being connected to A or to E as the case may be through a linking nitrogen atom are prepared by coupling a diazotized amine of formula T-A-NH2 with a coupling component H-E-T, A, E and T being as above or by reacting an azo compound T1-A-N = N-E-T1 in which A and E are as above, one T1 is a dichloro-s-triazine group and the second T1 is one of the groups <FORM:1104915/C4-C5/3> <FORM:1104915/C4-C5/4> in which R is as above, each T1 being connected to A or to E by a nitrogen atom, with ammonia or with an amine RNH2 depending upon which of the two groups is present. |
