<p>An apparatus (100) for comminuting a material, comprising: an outer cylindrical tuber (102) having a first interior area; an inner cylindrical tube (101) concentric with and positioned within the outer cylindrical tube (102), having a second interior area; an upper bearing plate (104) rotatably supported within the second interior area of the inner cylindrical tube (101); a lower bearing plate (106) rotatably supported within the first interior area of the outer cylindrical tube (102) and spaced a distance L below the upper bearing plate (104); a lance (110) having an internal portion (112) supported by the upper and lower bearing plates (104, 106) and an external portion (114) that freely extends beyond a lowermost portion (115) of the cylindrical tube (102) and directs a high velocity liquid jet at the material to be comminuted, and a processor (404) for controlling the liquid jet.</p> |
