When a zero detergent course is selected by the user in operation an electric washing machine, a water flow is caused in an outer drum (2) where an electrolyte generated by electrolysis by an electrolyzer (31), so that the washings are washed without using any detergent. The electrolyzer (31) is constituted of a water treating unit (60) attached to the lower portion of an outer side face (66) of the outer drum (2), and the water treating unit (60) comprises an electrolytic bath (32) of a thin box shape, a pair of center electrodes (33) supported at the both ends, and a pair of water passages (34, 35). These paired water passages (34, 35) are vertically arranged to connect the outer drum (2) and the electrolytic (32) through a packing (81). The electric washing machine can be assembled with an excellent workability and can electrolyze water efficiently for washing.
