The rotary damper, especially for the drive ends of vehicle propeller shafts, has a damping mass bonded to the damping hub through an intermediate elastomer mass. A locking holder (1) is around the circumference of the damping mass (4) in a positive fit, secured to a component of the propeller shaft. The holder is a plate which can be deep drawn, with mounting tabs (6) aligned radially inwards.
