A dispenser for dispensing stethoscope covers (90) stored in a holding chamber (52). The covers (90) are adhesively arranged on a continuous backing (72) and automatically, individually separated from such backing (72) and dispensed into a discharge area (54) as a result of the continuous backing (72) being withdrawn from the dispenser (10). Each cover (90) is dispensed with the adhesive portion (97) facing upward in preparation for attachment to a stethoscope diaphragm (102).
