The invention relates to a hand-held machine tool, comprising an electric motor (12) mounted in a housing (10) via which a tool bit (16) disposed in a tool holder (14) can be rotatably driven, and a protective device (18) by which a characteristic value for an uncontrolled blocking of the tool bit (16) can be detected by a sensor unit (20) and the housing (10) can be slowed down in its motion. The invention is further characterized in that the protective device (18) is at least partially configured by a motor control unit (22) via which the electric motor (12) can be actively slowed down when an uncontrolled blocking of the tool bit (16) is detected.
