The invention relates to a circuit arrangement (1) for blocking excessive currents, especially fault currents, comprising a first controlled switch (T1) whose switch path lies in a load current circuit (5). A second controlled switch (T2) puts the first controlled switch (T1) in a blocking state when high currents arise in the load current circuit (5). A control input (10) of the second controlled switch (T2) is connected to a first terminal (15) of the first controlled switch (T1), while at the same time a load (20) is connected to the first terminal (15) of the first controlled switch (T1).
