An antenna unit radiates high frequency measuring signals onto the contents (2) of the container (1), and receives the reflected signals. A receiver/evaluation unit evaluates the propagation time of the signals. A dielectric carrier material is provided for accommodating the antenna unit and at least the circuit components for generating, transmitting and/or receiving the high frequency measurement signals.
