The conveyor system (1) has a first continuous conveyor belt (2), a vertical conveyor drum (3) with turning drive. A belt tensioner (6) maintains the set/setable belt tension at such a level, that the belt is driven only by a drive force transmitted via the turning drive to the belt. The belt tensioner and a belt length compensator form a modular unit. Tensioning force is generated by gravity using a tensioning weight (60), or by spring force.
