Airbag apparatus

The rear portion (11A), the left and right portions, and the front portion (11B) of an airbag (11) are folded in succession. This manner of folding enables the airbag front portion to be inflated earlier than the airbag rear portion in event of a vehicle collision. A gas generator (13) inflates the airbag. The airbag is deployed to the front of the vehicle driver or passenger. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) a method of folding an airbag; (b) and a method of deploying an airbag.
