In an aircraft catapult tape, which is wound on a drum under tension whereby the inner turns suffer high compressive stress, the modulus of elasticity of the weft is high enough to limit the increase in width of the tape to 10% when the compressive load is 10,000 1b. per sq. in. The weft 52 is 1100 denier polyester and the load-bearing stuffer warp 58, 59 is 840 denier nylon. |
