[Also in Division H1] Defects in the insulation of a conductor are repaired by contacting the insulated conductor at the point of fault with a bath containing water and a salt of a carboxyl-containing α- olefin polymer, earthing the bath, connecting a D.C. source in a circuit containing the bath, conductor and earth, the conductor being connected to postive and applying a voltage of at least 5 volts for a time sufficient to electrodeposit the carboxyl-containing α-olefin polymer on the exposed conductor, i.e. until current ceases to flow. |
