PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner in which an exhaust amount to be discharged from a cleaner body to the atmosphere can be selected and the constitution of making the selection can be formed in a small size, at a low cost and with low energy without complicating it in an exhaust circulation type electric vacuum cleaner. SOLUTION: Inside the cleaner body with a built-in motor-driven blower 2, an intake passage and an exhaust passage circulating at least a part of exhaust discharged from the motor-driven blower 2 to a suction tool side are provided. An opening/closing means opening and closing an opening part 27 communicating the exhaust passage inside the cleaner body and the outside of the exhaust passage is provided. The opening/closing means is constituted of a thin film valve 28 covering the opening part 27 and a frame body 30 airtightly covering the thin film valve 28 from a counter opening part side. The frame body 30 is provided with a ventilation part communicated with the outside of the exhaust passage and a communication path 41 communicating a lid body opening and closing the ventilation part and a space formed of the exhaust passage, the thin film valve 28 and the frame body 30 is provided.
